Steve Bruce believes that an influx of foreign managers is damaging the English
game.
Bruce's Birmingham side face Chelsea - managed by Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho
- this weekend, but the former Manchester United man believes that it is time
to give native talent a chance.
"If we're not careful we'll send out the wrong messages to young English
managers or players who want to go down that route," said Bruce.
"It's very difficult when the top jobs keep going to foreign coaches.
"How many English managers are plying their trade overseas?"
However, Bruce believes that, in Chelsea's case, the appointment of a foreigner
could work out well.
"He seems confident enough to take the job on," adds Bruce.
"It is a massive task and he'll be under no illusions about that."
