Aston Villa will be without on-loan Chelsea striker Carlton Cole, who is
ineligible under Premiership rules.

He will be replaced by Juan Pablo Angel, who will make his first start of the
season after summer knee surgery.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho could rest some of his big names after so many of
them were away on international duty.

Didier Drogba has recovered from a knock picked up while playing for the Ivory
Coast but Wayne Bridge and Damien Duff may miss out.

ASTON VILLA have their sights set on bringing an end to Chelsea's 100% start,
by maintaining their own 100% home record, which would also complete a hat
trick of home victories over the expensively assembled Londoners. David
O'Leary's side enjoyed Carling Cup and Premiership successes over the Blues at
Villa Park last season.

The "Claret and Blues" have lost only twice in 11 League and Cup games at Villa
Park since mid January, and O'Leary would dearly love to get something from
this match, his 50th in charge.

Villa are unbeaten in five home Premiership meetings with Chelsea (two wins,
three draws).

CHELSEA will be hoping history does not repeat itself. On Easter Monday this
year, when in second place, they visited the second city and came off second
best. A Darius Vassell penalty, and Thomas Hitzlsperger and Lee Hendrie goals
overshadowed a Hernan Crespo double. The visit to Villa Park and subsequent
games at Newcastle and Manchester United are the only places where Chelsea have
dropped points on the road in 2004.

Four straight victories is the Blues' best start to a League season in 76 years,
since they reeled off six on the spin in the original Second Division in 1928.

Chelsea's last League maximum at Villa Park was 0-3 on 21 March 1999, when
Tore-Andre Flo and Bjarne Goldbaek were on target.

Carlton COLE will not be allowed to play, as he is a Chelsea loanee.
Olof MELLBERG is Aston Villa's joint top scorer with COLE. The Swedish defender
has scored two goals in three games, which is as many as he had netted in 120
previous League and Cup appearances for the club.
If he plays, Mark DELANEY will be making his 150th appearance for Villa.
If he figures, Thomas SORENSEN will be making his 50th appearance for the
Midlanders.


CHELSEA

If he plays, Frank LAMPARD will equal the record of successive appearances for
outfield players in Premiership matches. The record is currently held by Wayne
BRIDGE, who made 113 consecutive appearances for Southampton between 4 March 2000
and 18 January 2003. Lampard has appeared in each of Chelsea's last 112 top
flight games since 13 October 2001.
If on the field at kick off, BRIDGE will be making his 50th start for Chelsea.
If he turns out, William GALLAS will be making his 100th Premiership appearance
for the Stamford Bridge club.
