LAPORTA: BARCA CAN BEAT CHELSEA
Barcelona president Joan Laporta is confident his players will rise to the
occasion and see off Chelsea in the Champions League.
The Catalan giants have seen their lead at the top of the Primera Liga cut
to four points by a resurgent Real Madrid but they responded with a strong
display in the 4-1 win at Zaragoza on Saturday.
All eyes will be on the Nou Camp side's European challenge next Wednesday,
however, when the leaders in Spain take on the champions-elect in the
Premiership in a potentially mouthwatering clash which Laporta feels is
there for the taking.
"At times it depends on how motivated you are for a match and it is difficult
to recover when you lose," he said.
"But Barcelona have shown a lot of character recently and so for the
Champions League game against Chelsea, I also have confidence."
Laporta insists Barca cannot afford to relax in the Primera Liga if they
are to continue their two-pronged assault on European and domestic fronts
this season.
"We have to be careful - nothing guarantees success," he added. "It will
be what this club wins that will say whether this board has gone down the
right road and given pride to the fans.
"We are first in the league but there are still a lot of games to be played.
"If we continue to improve and we concentrate on our goal each week then I
believe that we will complete our objectives.
"But we must not rest on our laurels."

Arteta warning for Barca
Everton new-boy Mikel Arteta has warned former club Barcelona to be wary of
Chelsea when they clash in the Champions League next week.
Arteta, who was on the wrong end of a Chelsea defeat at the weekend, is a
product of Barcelona's academy and believes the Catalan club will have a t
ough time against Chelsea.
He said: "Barcelona can win against Chelsea, but the problem is in scoring
a goal against them.
"It is very hard to create chances against them, but if we had opportunities
against them at the weekend with only 10 men, you can be sure that Barcelona
will have theirs.
"But the few that they have, they have to take advantage of - you cannot let
them off."
