Chelsea continued the away Champions League form of last season and manager
Jose Mourinho was delighted with what he saw.
“Perfect performance,” he told Chelsea TV. “I think every single player
performed fantastic, individually, and as a team. I think, complete control of
the game – defensively amazing, ball possession, incredible quality,
concentration, motivation, the finishing action, I think the game was
absolutely superb.”
Man of the match Didier Drogba lost three times against PSG last season when
playing for Marseille. He enjoyed this occasion. “We came here to win and we
did well and I hope it’s the beginning.”
John Terry scored his first goal of the season, and he too was excited with the
whole team’s display. “A great team performance. It was important for us to
come here and get off to a good start. Their fans even showed their
appreciation in the last ten minutes when we were bopping it about.”
He got us on the road with the first goal. “I just remember saying to Lamps
before he ran over to take it (the corner) I’ll be at the second post, and the
goalkeeper missed it and it was an easy, easy goal.”
The captain was equally clear about Drogba’s two goals. “The first one he
responded well, got the rebound off Kez’s, and the second – what a fantastic
free-kick! He works so hard for his goals he fully deserves them.”
