Twenty-one in squad for Paris

Jose Mourinho has taken a squad of 21 players to Paris for the first UEFA
Champions League matchday against Paris St Germain tomorrow, Tuesday.
The only players left at home from his squad of 24 are Carlo Cudicini and Arjen
Robben who are still not fit, and Celestine Babayaro. Mourinho praised
Babayaro’s performance at Aston Villa but regularly chooses full-backs not to
travel as they rarely make the substitutes’ bench.
So his 21 are: Petr Cech and Lenny Pidgeley; Paulo Ferreira, Glen Johnson,
Ricardo Carvalho, John Terry, William Gallas, Robert Huth and Wayne Bridge;
Tiago, Claude Makelele, Frank Lampard, Alexei Smertin, Geremi and Scott Parker;
Mateja Kezman, Didier Drogba, Joe Cole (see photograph, keeping everyone
entertained on the airport bus), Eidur Gudjohnsen, Adrian Mutu and Damien Duff.
Mourinho hinted after Saturday’s draw at Aston Villa that Duff will be playing
some part in tomorrow’s game. Duff, Bridge, Johnson and Huth didn’t travel to
Villa Park.
The team has trained in the Parc des Princes this evening having had a low-key
but thorough session yesterday, Sunday, at Harlington. The weather at
Harlington was passable. In the Parc des Princes it was pouring with rain.
