Lamps dedicates goal to grandfather


Match-winner Frank Lampard dedicated his winning goal to his grandfather after
Tuesday's 2-1 defeat of Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Lampard came off the bench to net the 88th-minute winner, after Brian McBride
had cancelled out Damien Duff's 55th-minute opener for the visitors.

The result puts Chelsea in the Carling Cup semi-finals, and Lampard revealed
afterwards: "That goal was for my granddad - who died on Saturday."

The England midfielder continued on Sky Sports: "We beat them 4-1 here a couple
of weeks ago so we knew that was fresh in their minds.

"And their manager [Chris Coleman] gave them a bit of stick after their game at
the weekend - so we knew they would come out flying.

"We never think we're invincible - Arsenal got to that level last year and
we've got to get there.

"There's always the possibility to get beaten in the next game."

On his goal, which Fulham goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar got down to but failed
to keep out, Lampard added: "You have to shoot from the edge of the box and
sometimes you get a bit of luck - which we got.

"We want to go on and win this competition - a potential trip to The Millennium
Stadium means we could have a cup in the bag by the end of February."
