Chelsea Youth lost the first competitive game of the season to a goal scored
after 15 minutes at Harlington on Saturday morning.
Lining up in a midfield diamond formation, they struggled in the first-half to
come to terms with the shape, but improved hugely in the second-half only to
miss four or five good chances.
Gerry Harvey, temporarily in charge of the side, said: “We didn’t play well
in the first-half and Stoke scored from our bad defending at a corner kick.
“In the second we got in some good cross balls and one on ones and were a bit
more successful.”
Substitute and schoolboy Shaun Cummings made his youth team debut in the
second-half.
Team: Ma Kalambay; Brand, Pettigrew, Mancienne, J Tillen; J Smith; Grant,
Hudell; Simmonds; P Younghusband, Watkins (Cummings).
