Norwich Youth 1 Chelsea Youth 4
Sunday, Oct 31, 2004
Two 4-1 away wins for Chelsea in one day is pretty satisfying, and
youth coach Brendan Rodgers was highly satisfied with his youngsters
yesterday, Saturday.
Norwich took the lead, countering from a Chelsea corner, but Michele
Gallaccio quickly equalised, and a magnificent Ben Hudell free-kick gave
us the lead.
Phil Younghusband scored either side of half-time to become the club’s
leading scorer this season with seven goals.
Rodgers was delighted with the last goal. “It was a Premier League
finish,” he said. “Great approach play from James Simmonds and Phil
dinked it over the keeper.”
He was even more delighted with the whole display. “We had three
schoolboys in our starting line-up against quite an experienced team, so
it was a very good performance.”
