US STAR SIGNS FOR CHELSEA

Chelsea Football Club has made a major new signing in the United States,
but she won't be available to play for Jose Mourinho.

The former U.S. women's soccer star Lorrie Fair has become an ambassador
for Chelsea FC in her home country, confirming the club's long-standing
commitment to help promote U.S. soccer at all levels. The Chelsea-Fair
partnership announcement comes just before Chelsea travel to the Bay Area
from our preseason training in Los Angeles to take on Mexico's Club
America in the Disney Friendship Cup at Stanford Stadium in Stanford,
California on July 14.
前美國女足明星羅瑞˙菲爾 (Lorrie Fair) 成為了切爾西足球俱樂部在她祖國的大

Fair, who is 28-years-old, said: 'I've been around soccer my whole life.
I'm not only a player, but a real fan and Chelsea represents the highest
level of soccer on the world's stage. Together we hope to add to the
excitement of the game and make an impact on the level and visibility of
U.S. soccer. This weekend will be a great chance for Bay Area sports fans
to see some of the best soccer players in the world right in their own
backyard.'

Fair, a native of the Bay Area where the game is being staged, enjoyed a
spectacular career as a member of the U.S. Women's National Team. As a
versatile midfielder and defender, Fair was the youngest member of the US
team which won the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup against China. In total she
made 123 appearances for her country.

In recognition of her contribution to that victory Fair was named U.S.
Soccer's Chevrolet Youth Female Athlete of the Year in 1999.

Chelsea business affairs director Paul Smith said: 'Chelsea are committed
to the development and promotion of soccer from the top level to grass
roots in the U.S. Women's soccer is a huge part of that. Lorrie transcends
both the women's and men's game as a former World Cup winner and U.S.
soccer icon. She is the ideal ambassador for Chelsea in America.

Fair will act as an ambassador for Chelsea in the club's marketing,
community and coaching initiatives in the U.S.

Women's soccer accounts for half the total market in the U.S. in terms of
participation. The Fair ambassador deal follows last year's announcement
of a strategic alliance between Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) and
Chelsea.

AEG are the owners of the LA Galaxy, who play Chelsea in the World Series
of Soccer on July 21 in David Beckham's debut game. Before then Chelsea
take on the Samsung Bluewings on July 17. Both games are at the AEG
operated Home Depot Center in Carson City, Los Angeles.
