FOCUS ON THE FORUM – RACHEL HARRIS
Here we go with another look into the CFCnet forum, before the Bolton match I
took time out and spent fifteen minutes with one of our moderators and quite
possibly the best known female Chelsea supporter in the land – Rachel Harris.
So Rachel, tell us where you're from.
I've spent most of my life in Farnborough - the world famous Farnborough that
is! - Though I have been living in various locations during the last few years
including Paris and Portsmouth (slight contrast)
How long have you supported Chelsea and how did you come to choose the Blues?
I've been a Chelsea fan since I was 9 or 10 (now 22), but back then I didn't
really care, it was just normal for everyone to have a team they "supported".
I count myself as a true supporter since I was 12 when I became a real football
fan, so that's 10 years. Why Chelsea? Well the only reason I can really think
of is because I had a couple of good friends whose family were Chelsea mad and
unlike the majority of people at school who jumped on the Man Utd bandwagon
(South of England being an obvious hotspot for Utd fans) for some reason I
decided to be different.
Tell us your favourite thing about Chelsea.
Hard to say one thing, there's so much I love about the club! In the 10 years
of being a fan there has never been a dull moment, we always seem to have
something exciting/depressing going on and in this short time there have been
many ups and downs. Also the arrival of Abramovich has certainly made being a
Chelsea fan a unique and exciting thing. Thinking about the team now what I
love most is the unity, the team spirit, commitment, the way they work for
each other and have such belief and confidence. And we all know who that's
down to…
What's the best game you've ever seen? Chelsea or otherwise.
Hard to pick one, Chelsea v Barcelona (both 2005 and 1999) are definitely the
best games I've ever been too. Beating Arsenal in the CL last season has to be
there. Non Chelsea ones which spring to mind include Man Utd v Real Madrid,
England v Germany (you know the result!) and Arsenal going out of the Champions
League - I'll let you pick which year ;-) Oh and Farnborough v Arsenal, even
if we did lose :)
If you could change one thing about the club, what would it be?
Cheaper tickets and better all round ticketing system. And in the long run a
bigger capacity (but couldn’t bear to see us move from Stamford Bridge!)
Do you have any treasured Chelsea memorabilia you just couldn't bear to part
with?
My most treasured item is a flag from the 2000 FA Cup final which after seeing
the team train I got signed “To Rachel” from most of the players. Oh and I
have an old and not particularly nice looking scarf which I insist on wearing
to/during every game.
So how long have you been coming on CFCnet and how did you find us?
Last year when I was living in Paris I needed Chelsea fans to talk with during
the crazy times (CL run, save Ranieri etc) and being in an office all day with
little to do I came across CFCnet. The rest is history!
If you could add, remove or change anything on CFCnet, what would it be?
People enjoy predicting team line ups and scores, so I would add a feature for
next season where we have a little league of predictions and can therefore see
in the long run who’s the best – and worst – at predicting outcomes.
You moderate our forum, tell us the best and worst parts of the job – besides
my moaning.
Best: Probably that my posts go on straight away! Its also good fun and
something I enjoy doing. Worst: I think we all know what I’m going to say –
people who type “i” instead of “I”, don’t make an effort with spelling,
grammar, capital letters, punctuation etc (and yes this is a hint!) It's such
a pain when there are three pages of unmoderated posts and we have to edit
every other one (Toby's moaning is obviously contagious!) Also when you're a
moderator you tend to spend way too much time on the site.
Football aside, what characteristics would you say you've inherited from your
parents?
I'm probably more like my Dad, both in good and bad ways; he's a kind and
generous man so I like to think I’ve inherited that! He does have a tendency
to hang onto clutter, which I do too and like me he can be very chatty. Both
had taught me to be polite, hardworking and (I hope) a good person.
You can take one book and one CD to a desert island. What are they and why?
Book: the forthcoming Harry Potter book, can't wait for it to come out! CD:
would have to be something I never tire of, so perhaps U2 greatest hits 1980-90
If you won £10 million in the lottery, what would you do with it?
Spend, spend, spend! No seriously I would give a large proportion to family
and some to various charities. With the rest I'd save most for the future, but
would definitely go on a massive shopping spree, go travelling in luxury around
the world and buy a beautiful apartment in Paris so I could spend as much time
there as possible. Oh and buy a season ticket for Chelsea obviously
What will the inscription on your tombstone read?
Something about being kind, generous and loving (I like to think so anyway!)
Well let's hope it's not anytime soon! Rachel thanks for talking to us.

為何文法錯誤. 拼字錯誤.標點符號錯誤會造成cfcnet版主們的困擾?
Rachel的那面2000年FA Cup 旗子都是簽名一定很壯觀XD
假如我中樂透,我也要買切爾西季票
