Paxson, Reinsdorf to pursue Chandler in California

Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf is planning to accompany general manager
John Paxson to California early next week to meet with Tyson Chandler and
agent Jeff Schwartz, according to a team source.
Chandler is a restricted free agent who has not reached agreement with the
Bulls or received an offer from another team. Paxson has repeatedly maintained
that he’ll match any offer sheet, which may have driven down outside
interest in Chandler.
The Bulls are expected to make an offer in the range of $60 million over
six years but may try to work some incentives into the deal. The 7-foot-1
Chandler averaged 8.0 points and 9.7 rebounds in his fourth NBA season.
His defense was an important factor in the team’s surprising drive to 47 wins
.
Grant may decide soon: Brian Grant expects to settle on a new team within
the next few days, according to Chicago-based agent Mark Bartelstein. Grant,
a 6-9 power forward, was waived by the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday under
the NBA’s amnesty rule.
General manager John Paxson and coach Scott Skiles spoke to Grant by phone
Wednesday evening, and the Bulls believe they have a shot to land the 33-year-
old free agent.
Bartelstein said most every team in the league has expressed interest in
Grant, and despite reports that he’d prefer a return to Miami, his ultimate
destination is “way up in the air.”
Amnesty clock ticking: NBA teams have until Monday to take advantage of the
amnesty rule, which offers a one-time opportunity to waive a player and avoid
playing luxury tax on his salary. The player continues to get paid but is free
to join any team and cannot return to his original team for the length of the
contract.
Portland’s Derek Anderson, Orlando’s Doug Christie, the Los Angeles
Lakers’ Brian Grant and Philadelphia’s Aaron McKie have already been
released under the amnesty rule. Others likely to be waived are New York’s
Allan Houston and Dallas’ Michael Finley.
Some high-priced candidates who will probably not be released are Indiana’
s Austin Croshere, Boston’s Raef LaFrentz and Toronto’s Jalen Rose.
Even though they are not in immediate danger of paying the luxury tax, the
Bulls will exercise the amnesty clause on Eddie Robinson. He was released last
year but is owed $5 million by the Bulls under terms of his contract buyout.
Pargo checks options: Restricted free agent Jannero Pargo, who was scheduled
to visit Cleveland on Friday, is seeking a greater role than he had last
season with the Bulls. But that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s eager to leave.
“Jannero loves Chicago, and (the Bulls) have been great to him,” said
Mark Bartelstein, Pargo’s agent. “It’s not like he’s trying to escape.
It’s a matter of working together to find the best situation for everyone.
“I think a lot of people were waiting to see what happened with (Chris)
Duhon. Once the Bulls make that official, I think that will open the
floodgates for Jannero.”
Duhon signed an offer sheet from Toronto, and the Bulls are expected to
match by Monday.

面，七呎一吋的泰山在他第四年的NBA球季中有，平均每場8分、9.7籃板的
表現，尤其是他的防守是公牛隊能拿下47勝重要的原因。

我想很多人都在等著看Duhon會發生什麼事吧，我認為那將會為Pargo開一道出
口的。
Duhon和暴龍簽下一份合約，而公牛球團預計在星期一將會match這份合約。
