Wilcox next on Paxson's list?
Bulls operations chief John Paxson met the media Thursday for the first
since landing free agent Ben Wallace and trading Tyson Chandler,
but he still isn't allowed to talk about either move.
Even though the NBA's free-agent period began July 1, league rules
stipulate that contracts can't be signed and other moves can't become official
until the salary-cap figure is firmly established next Wednesday.
Until then, Paxson must remain mum on his two coups.
Paxson, though, is allowed to talk about his future plans and confirmed
that he might not be finished dealing.
''Be patient, but I think down the road maybe we'll be able to make
another move that helps us out even more,''Paxson said following the team's
first summer-league practice at the Berto Center.
''There are some things that we can do, and I'm not opposed to doing
something else.
''At this time, we're going to get through the events of the 12th.
But I'm not in any hurry.''
With Wallace and 6-11 P.J. Brown (who will come over from the
New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets in the Chandler trade), the Bulls are
better in the front-court but still could use another big body.
According to team sources, the next name on Paxson's wish list
is restricted free agent Chris Wilcox, a 6-10 power forward.
Since the Wallace signing will eat up most of the Bulls' $16 million
of cap space, their best chance of landing Wilcox will be through a
sign-and-trade deal with his current team, the Seattle
SuperSonics. That's always a tricky situation when the current
team wants to retain the player, but the Bulls could benefit from the
Sonics' shaky financial outlook.
Wilcox, who will turn 24 in September, is looking for a multiyear
deal at roughly $10 million a year. Although the Sonics were
delighted with his play after he was acquired in February from the
Los Angeles Clippers -- he averaged 14.1 points and 8.2
rebounds in 29 games with Seattle -- they don't want to commit
that kind of money to an essentially unproven player.
It's doubtful the Bulls would be willing to pay that kind of money as
well, but they are in a better position to meet Wilcox's salary
demands. The Bulls also have the kind of young talent to entice
Seattle into making a deal.
J.R. Smith, a 6-6 guard who is also part of the Chandler deal, is
very attractive because of his youth (he turns 21 in September),
and Malik Allen and Viktor Khryapa are other players who could
be included in a trade.
Even if they don't acquire Wilcox, a trade seems likely because
the Bulls have too many players worthy of playing time. Brown,
though, believes the Bulls have big plans for him.
''I don't think they're bringing me there to just let my contract
expire,'' Brown told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. ''I think they
want me to definitely help get this team to the next level. With the
acquisition of Ben, you see how committed they are toward winning.''
Brown, 37, has one year left on his contract. He is a Louisiana
native who was comfortable with the Hornets.
Bulls draft pick Tyrus Thomas, who was an LSU freshman last
season, was able to get to know Brown from his trips to New Orleans.
''Hopefully, it will just make the team more of a championship
contender,'' Thomas said of Paxson's moves. ''[Brown is] going to
be a good mentor. I hope I can learn from him and pick up some of
the things he does."
NOTE: Because they are under the cap and need that cap room
to pull off the Ben Wallace signing and other moves, the Bulls
can't sign first-round draft picks Tyrus Thomas and Thabo Sefolosha
just yet. Both players, though, are participating in the summer league camp
this weekend at the Berto Center and will play on the Bulls' summer-league
team next week in Orlando, Fla., after securing insurance.

除了Wilcox以外，個人覺得Gooden和Jeffries也算是不錯的選擇，這三個人共同
的特點是續約狀況不順，有機會可以換到。
Gooden其實在騎士發展空間有點小了，中距離不錯，適合檔切的戰術，低位也還
算有攻擊能力。全場跑動能力相當好，適合當快攻的拖車頭。此外他籃板抓得很
好，缺點大概是不夠壯，防守也不夠硬...
Jeffries方面，我覺得他在巫師浪費了，全能前鋒被用成那個樣子，他大學不是
這樣打球的阿。大學時代他可是可以善用他的策應能力，在低位也可以吃掉對手
，也可以拉到外線來出手。

可是簽下他們
不就表示大班明年就會打到中鋒嗎
以他的年齡再硬扛中鋒恐怕不好吧
而且明後2年 公牛一堆人續約
PJ布朗看起來就是準備明年約滿去熱火或者馬刺拿最低薪的老將
乾脆再搭配一些球員交易換來可以在公牛待久一點的內線

假設明年還留著那個NYK 的1st.pick，
聽說明年是強選秀年，
應該是可以選個好禁區啦。
而且Big Ben 能扛中鋒扛多少年？
看看一兩年之後NBA 還剩下多少所謂的「中鋒」... ，
會衰退的不只有Big Ben 呀@.@"！

我不太覺得明年的熱火會比公牛有吸引力多少 :| ？
只是 PJ 也是會有衰退的問題。

個人覺得也是個不錯的選擇。

就算利用尼克選秀權挑到好的禁區
他們也是大一大二而已
練好大班也退休了
熱火明年主力還在 光一個歐尼爾已經吸引力勝過公牛了 還有一個韋德
我認為不要交易明年合約到期的球員
2年內公牛一堆球隊需要續約 盡量換05 06的新秀
不然直接換實力接近明星的球員
