1964-1967
樂團的幾位開始聚在一塊玩樂器，
發行首張專輯 The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
首任主唱／吉他手，
迷幻錯置的音樂怪才 Syd Barrett 因嗑藥過量而進院離團。
此期創作由 Syd 主導，與後來的風格有相當不同。
1968-1983
David Gilmour 接任吉他手，創作重心移至貝斯手 Roger Waters 上，
除了之前說到的幾張實驗色彩濃厚的作品，
Pink Floyd 較常被提起的 The Dark side of the Moon ／
Wish You Were Here ／ The Wall 都是此時期作品。
1987-
1987年推出四年空白後的專輯 A Momentary Lapse of Reason ，
而期間團員個人的作品分別發表，這張專輯錄音時 Waters 已經離團，
由 Gilmour 接任創作，風格仍接近原來的 Pink Floyd，
不過 Waters 時期孤寂低語的氣息減少了許多。
