Q2 -- Why does THSR trains have allocated extra doors for passengers? In THSRC’s design there is no driver cabin exit door and no window to open on side. The window located at the 6th car also cannot be opened. The THSR train driver cannot determine the stop points to ensure it is safe to disembark. Reliance is placed on the platform staff, and it is not possible to respond in emergency situation. FACTS and CORRECTIONS 1. In THSRC’s design, an additional door in the end cars is made available for the passengers to embark and disembark. This is particularly useful in emergencies. Therefore, the re-positioning of driver cabin door to the end coach is an important safety feature in the THSR trains. 2. The allegation is referring to the “operation practice”. Operation rules are always written in accordance with the local practice and the specific system design. ˇ Acutally the practice of the train conductor ducking his head out of the window is dangerous in the case of Taipei station because of the lack of side clearance. ˇ THSR operation rules have already made adequate consideration requiring train staff and platform staff to do specific checks before a train can disembark passengers. 3. THSRC's train arrival and departure procedures follow international proven practices found in most railway operators. 4. THSRC’s design philosophy is to minimize human error. We have purposely designed our trains NOT to rely on the train driver to determine the stop points at the station. Our system can do it automatically through the Fixed Point Stop feature in Automatic Train Control system (See Q3 for further info) -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 203.70.51.200
