Q5 -- THSR Design of Emergency Response does not pull the emergency brake unnecessarily ALLEGATIONS In Emergency response, the Shinkansen train would switch on and power off all the trains nearby while the train is approaching dangers. The THSR train will not brake immediately but will decelerate and keep on moving. The design is quite different from the one in Japanese system. FACTS and CORRECTIONS 1. Whenever a disaster warning signal is received, all the trains in the affected areas will have an “immediate and forceful stop”. 2. The disasters signals include the following 4 types: - Earthquake - Intrusion detector (road vehicle) - Landslide - Rock fall 3. It is important to note that the emergency brake should only be applied when it is absolutely necessary. 4. Sudden braking is another potential cause of passenger injury especially for passengers who are walking on the aisle or who are not seated down. 5. In order to ensure the emergency brake is applied only when it is necessary, THSRC signal design has the following features: - In the event of earthquake, the train will engage/initiate the sharp emergency brake within 0.5 sec response time - In the event of intrusion, landslide, or rock fall, the system will automatically calculate the distance between the incident site and the train location to determine how rapidly the train needs to decelerate in order to stop completely before reaching the incident site 6. If the distance is very short to the site, the train will come to a stop more abruptly. If the distance allows, the train will come to a smoother stop. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 203.70.51.200
