"Every Breath You Take" must be a true classic of 80s. One of my favorites. But it's only after reading some article of a magazine today, I realize how this song was made. It sounds very interesting and dramatic. According to their producer, Sting and Stewart Copeland(the drummer) "hated" each other at that time. "Physical fighting(!!!)" happened usually during that session. When recording 'every breath", everyone of this trio didn't wanna see each other at all. So they are assigned to 3 different rooms to play each own's part. Poor Stewart was assigned to a "dining room" on 2nd floor to play the drums. There was hot and no air conditioning system. He screwed it up many times because his sweat all over the sticks... After recording, they and their producer flied to another studio to mix down. Still, no one wanted to see each other... When Sting was out and Stewart came in the morning and said "mmm... add this hi-hats, i think it's great... In the afternoon Sting came in and said " what's that fxxking hi-hats!? Get rid of that!" and again...... "Where's my hi-hats!?" bla bla bla... These things happened once and once again.... Finally the song climbed to no.1 both in UK and US. The police was no more as well.
