Cesar Martin unavailable after friendly against Germany

14th February 2003 -- Deportivo defender and Spanish international player,
Cesar Martin will be unavailable for two or three weeks, after the doctors
diagnosed an injury in his right thigh. The defender started the friendly
match against Germany, along with colleague striker Diego Tristan, but got
injured in the first half of the game, being replaced by Helguera at
half-time.
He played a good game against Germany, almost managing to score with a great
header, and doing really well in the defense.
His injury is another blow for coach Javier Irureta, who had used Cesar in
his starting line-up very often. Irureta will have to replace him on
Saturday, choosing either Donato or Jorge Andrade. The problems don't end
here however, since Depor will have to find a replacement for the Champions
League games to be played in next few weeks.
All in all, this injury comes at a very difficult time, as Depor are entering
the decisive phases in all three competitions, and good defending will be
necessary for Depor to survive.
