During the last weeks, there have been rumours about Depor's second goalkeeper
Juanmi wanting to quit football.
Is is true that you want to quit football?
Press has published things that aren't true. I want to make this very clear,
and this is that I've never thought about quitting football. This is my life,
my profession... and I'd like to play for four or five more years. Many lies
have been told, and many have put words in my mouth, things I've never said.
Therefore, do you still have illusion in playing?
Why shouldn't I have? This year I've played forty-two games, I've played the
Champions League, I've reached the semi-finals of the Copa and I still can win
the Liga. After a year like this, I have more illusion than ever. Also, since
I've arrived to A Coruna everybody has treated me wonderfully, the club, the
mates and of course, the fans.
Will you fulfil your contract then?
I still have one more year left at Depor and it's my intention to complete it.
If the club receives an offer and we all agree, that would be another story.
And what happens with Murcia?
I don't close the doors to anyone, because I don't know what's going to happen
tomorrow. But the only thing I've said is that I'd like to retire in my
homeland in a few years, because I want to live in the city of Cartagena.
You are one match away from 250. Does this figure tell you something?
To be honest I'd like to reach 300 games. This is an illusion I'd really like
to fulfil.
And what about winning the Liga?
While there's life there's still hope. We are the ones who have the less
chances right now, but we can't surrender. Even if it's not the title, we have
to try to be second.
