BEBETO IS BACK IN A CORUNA
Depor legend Bebeto is back in town. The former striker and World Champion has
now become the representative of a number of players, and he wants to meet
president Lendoiro in order to talk business.

The Brazilian did not visit A Coruna since 1997. He still is an idol for the
fans, and has admitted to be very touched as he was back in the city where he
achieved international recognition as a club player. "I really wanted to come
back to A Coruna. This is my second home and I want to enjoy it with my
friends. It has been six years, and I'm very moved I'm here", he says. In fact,
Bebeto still owns a house in the city.

Although he left active professional football some time ago, the former striker
is still linked to this sport as a players' representative; "I only play
friendly games", he says. Currently, "I'm working with Jorginho and Rodrigo
Carbone in a project involving kids aged between six and eighteen. Also, I
represent a number of Brazilian players. We've already sold two to Stuttgart
and we want to sell some more to other European clubs".

He goes on: "I have all the best for Deportivo. Now I want to talk with the
president in order to offer him some players, but for Depor I have to pick up
the best, because it's my team." Indeed, Bebeto has not forgotten his period as
a 'deportivista'. He admits that he follows Depor in the distance, since he
regards Depor as "his" club.

Bebeto also announced that in two months or so he will get his full FIFA Agent
license. This is a basic requisite in order to work as a representative without
facing legal problems. He says: "In September I'll become 'FIFA Agent'."
The World Champion does not really know long how long he will be staying in A
Coruna, since he has commitments with the Brazilian veteran team. That is why
he will not be able to stay for as long as he initially wanted to. He declares:
"I'll be in A Coruna for a few days, but I don't really know how long I'll
stay, because I have to play some friendly games with the veteran team of
Brazil, one in Jamaica and another one in Honduras."
Bebeto joined Depor in 1992 from Vasco da Gama, alongside with midfielder Mauro
Silva. They symbolically marked the apparition and consecration of the
SuperDepor phenomena; that is to say, the beginning of Depor's success both in
the domestic league and European arena, the transformation of a local second
division team into an European giant. Bebeto won the USA'94 World Cup with
Brazil. With Depor he won the club's first ever official trophy: the Copa del
Rey (Spanish Cup) in 1995. Bebeto was the first ever 'Pichichi' (league
top-scorer) in Depor history. He left Depor in 1996, and later played for
Flamingo and Sevilla before retiring.

上週六下午7點半左右，貝貝托乘坐的飛機緩緩降落在阿爾維德羅機場。自從1997年離
開拉科後，這是他第一次回到這片加利西亞的土地。走出機艙的貝貝托很激動，因為在這
裏，他仍然是球迷心目中的偶像。這裏是他的第二故鄉，他甚至在這裏還留有一座房子。
“我想回來和朋友們聚一聚。六年沒回來了，現在在這裏我覺得很開心，很激動。”
有相當一段時間沒有碰足球，貝貝托現在改頭換面做起了球員經紀人的角色。“我們
有一個計劃，專門培養6－18歲的孩子。現在我們已經有兩人進入了斯圖加特隊，我們還將
繼續努力，讓更多的球員到歐洲球隊踢球。”因此，他此行除了回來探親外，還有另外一
個重要的目的－－－向拉科魯尼亞主席倫多伊羅推薦他的小隊員。“對拉科魯尼亞我必須
挑選最好的球員，因為那是我的球隊。”這裏，他特別強調了“我的”這兩個字，足見他
對拉科的感情之深。這兒的確是他的球隊，他的家，他足球生涯中最輝煌的一頁便在這裏
書寫。貝貝托坦言離開拉科後他在巴西一直都還密切注意球隊的動態。
不過，不踢球的貝貝托如果要當好球員的經紀人，更順利地完成他的工作的話，那他
必須要有國際足聯頒發的經紀人執照。令他感到高興的是，國際足聯已經同意在最近兩個
月內將執照頒給他。雖然不踢球，但貝貝托並沒有遠離足球，他還在為自己心愛的事業而
奮鬥。
貝貝托並不清楚自己會在拉科呆多久，因為他和巴西元老隊有一場比賽要踢，所以他
並不能如自己所願地在這裏多留幾天。“9月份我就是正式的經紀人了。在這之前，我會有
許多友誼賽要踢，一場在牙買加，另一場在洪都拉斯。”雖然還不是正式工作，但貝貝托
現在儼然已成了大忙人。
