BAYERN MUNICH AFTER VICTOR SANCHEZ?
panish sportspaper AS claims that German giants Bayern Munich are after
Victor Sanchez. The club of Roy Makaay, who’ll battle out with Real Madrid
which club we’ll be among the last 8 in Europe, want to strengthen their
right wing for next season. AS writes that the Bavarian club have been
looking for a while for a player who con rotate this position with
Salihamidzic, as the Bosnian international does not do well this season.
Using English midfielder Hargreaves on this position hasn’t convinced their
coach Ottmar Hitzfeld.
Victor Sanchez started his professional career at Real Madrid before he
moved to Racing de Santander. In 1999 he was signed by Deportivo and since
then has been a starter at the right wing of the Galician club. A
disappointing 2002/2003 season made him subject of several transfer rumours
as especially Valencia seemed to be very interested in signing him. But
coach Irureta displayed his confidence in the player and since then he has
been doing a good job.
But fact remains that the contract of Victor Sanchez will finish in little
more than one year. Deportivo president Lendoiro already has indicated that
he wants to renew this contract while Victor Sanchez also has mentioned
that staying at Deportivo would be good option. Nevertheless, AS claims
that he isn’t satisfied with his supposed salary of €600.000.
Last year a similar situation occurred because the contract of Makaay
would run out in the near future (two years in that case). Makaay indicated
that he didn’t want to renew it, because of financial differences, and so
Deportivo were more or less obliged to sell him to Bayern Munich. AS
indicates that Bayern Munich are willing to spent €9 million on Victor
Sanchez to strengthen their right wing.
