In the recent days there have been rumours about the interest of FC Barcelona

in getting Albert Luque. These rumours were increased when the player

made some comments before the match against Barcelona, as the Catalan winger

said that Barca is the only club where he would sign for if Lendoiro would

ever decide to sell him. And on Sunday his agent and his father had a meeting

 with Txiki Beguiristain of Barcelona, something which Lendoiro didn’t like

at all.


On Tuesday Albert Luque finally commented on the situation. He expressed

that he will always have a special feeling for Barcelona but right now he

is very happy at Deportivo. “I have worn the shirt of Barca for some years

and I keep the illusion of playing in Camp Nou someday in the future. I am

a Catalan and Barcelona represents Catalunya for me. But in life one never

knows what will happen. Right now I am very satisfied at Deportivo and I

hope to stay here for a long period and to score lots of goals”.


But the striker admitted that his agent and father had dinner with

Beguiristain (a former Deportivo player), who now is the technical director

of FC Barcelona. Luque explained that he knows Beguiristain from a long

time ago, before he moved to Mallorca, and that they didn’t discuss a

possible transfer during their meeting. He also is very clear about the

procedure necessary for these kind of negotiations. “I didn't have any

meeting with officials of Barcelona. If they or any club want me, they

have to go to the office of Deportivo and ask for Mr. Lendoiro”.


Luque reminded that his contract at Deportivo will end in 2010 and that

his intention is to fulfil it: "I will always be sincere with the club.

I have a contract for six and a half more years and I am happy here. If

someone wants me they will have to reach an agreement with the president".


Meanwhile, the name of Portuguese defender Jorge Andrade also was

mentioned by Beguiristain as he expressed his interest to Lendoiro. The

player, already a basic piece in the system of Irureta, was more firm in

his answers and commented that “I am not interested in all this and I

don’t want to hear it. I have a contract at Deportivo and everything that

comes from outside to destabilize us isn’t good. I just want to play

football”.
