I've been Chad's teammate for both of his seasons with Arizona and you can tell he's a gifted, natural hitter, and a great all-around player. His overall performance last season was not a fluke. In fact, it was probably just the beginning. Chad is special. It's almost like he has a sixth sense about the game. It's one of those things where all the little things that come naturally to make a guy a great hitter are there with him. For a guy who can play third, first and the outfield -- and not let the stress of playing a new position affect his hitting -- it's really impressive. It shows a lot about his talent that he can stay focused and locked in at the plate even while moving around the field as much as he does. He has good power to all fields and can hit a solid line drive. He studies his game and the pitchers. He goes up to the plate with a plan, knowing what's coming his way. He has a good approach every time he steps in the batter's box. I've played with him for a good while now and I can't say that I've ever seen him waste an at-bat. There are a lot of guys who are one-dimensional hitters, but not Trace. He's got it all. He can get two strikes and slap a ball down the third-base line for a double. On his next at-bat, he'll take one 20 rows deep in the right- field stands. I spent my offseason here in Phoenix and he did the same for the most part. Watching him work out and get ready for the season was pretty amazing. You know that he will do whatever it takes to get ready for every game. He will be a force for Arizona for a long time, especially when you consider that he is still so young. He's got a great opportunity ahead of him and he'll make the most of it for sure. Catcher Chris Snyder broke into the big leagues in 2004, the same season teammate Chad Tracy made his debut. Snyder, who was born in Houston, played in 115 games last season and now serves as a backup to starter Johnny Estrada. Tracy, who is also 25, has returned to third base trying to build upon a 2005 season in which he batted .308 with 27 homers in 145 games. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 203.203.194.12
