The contracts are expected to be announced today, the first day of full-squad workouts in Tucson. Byrnes' deal replaces the contract he signed when he was hired in October 2005 to replace the organization's original general manager, Joe Garagiola Jr. Hall, who joined the club in May 2005 as senior vice president of communications and replaced Rich Dozer as president after the 2006 season, had been working without a contract. Byrnes assembled a team that advanced to the National League Championship Series in his second season on the job. He has aggressively ushered in a new core of young players, in the process parting ways with veteran outfielder Luis Gonzalez, locking up ace Brandon Webb with a contract that runs through 2010 and this off-season acquiring another frontline starting pitcher in Dan Haren in a trade with Oakland. Byrnes' original contract was a four-year deal through 2009 with a club option for 2010. Hall brought a public-relations background into his role as president, becoming a visible and accessible figure in the community and a liaison to fans. Hall was brought aboard by Chief Executive Officer Jeff Moorad, whom he knew from his days working in communications for the Los Angeles Dodgers. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 219.70.28.191
