[閒聊] Looking訪談 - 導演Andrew+Patrick

剛好看到有導演Andrew Haigh、(Patrick)Jonathan Groff的訪談，

隨手翻了一下，如有錯誤煩請不吝指正。


HBO《Looking》
由Michael Lannan制作，導演Andrew Haigh亦在去年加入行列。根據Lannan所拍攝

的短片《Lorimer》，該片描述一對跨種族的同性戀情侶，在布魯克林發展出一段錯

綜複雜的關係。作為基礎，很快地確定了故事的方向。

《Looking》系列在2013年五月被HBO相中，預定在九月開拍。



Andrew Haigh：

對我而言，它就像在說一個我所看見的真實的故事，關於三位同性戀好友的故事。

我並不想呈現那些像是在下課後發生在同性戀上的"特別"事件。在觀賞這部影集時

，我希望觀眾們能夠跳脫主角們的性向，慢慢去感受可能比一般人還要更為深層的

東西。


Jonathan Groff：

這齣戲最有趣的地方莫過於它是個關於一群同性戀尚未公開出櫃身分的故事。他們

的年齡介於30~40歲之間，對自己的性生活感到滿意，像一般人一樣面對工作、友誼

、人際關係上的問題，並試圖去解決。

這不僅僅反映了我們現在所處的世界，同時也拉進了觀眾的距離感，使他們很容易

融入到劇情中。


老實說，我的朋友們看見我在劇中演出床戲的部分都表示相當驚訝。但其實就如同

Andrew在電影《Weekend》所補捉的畫面，角色間的親密行為並沒有低俗的色情感，

反而呈現出一種面對面的真誠和赤裸裸的坦率。

他帶給我們的昰一種美麗、互相，且鼓動人心的性，甚至可以是逗人一笑的喜劇

 - - - 而絕不是僅僅把對方的衣服扯掉而已。


Andrew Haigh：

為這齣戲定名是最困難的，簡直就是一場噩夢！我們試圖找尋一個具有包容性、而

不是像廉價的性暗示般的的詞彙。

追根究柢，它就是個關於一群人在尋找能夠滿足自己需求，且努力地試圖反擊每天

遇到的困境的故事。

Created by Michael Lannan (producer of James Franco's Interior. Leather
Bar.), director Andrew Haigh joined the project at the top of last year.
Soon after writing the pilot, based on Lannan's short film, Lorimer, about
the complexities of an interracial gay couple in Brooklyn, the series was
picked up by HBO in May of 2013. Production officially began last September.

Andrew Haigh:
For me, it was just wanting to tell a realistic story, as I saw it, about
three gay people and three gay friends. I didn’t want to see something that
was like an after-school special about gay issues. Hopefully you forget that
they're gay and you realize that it's something a little bit deeper than that
—it's about people in general.

Jonathan Groff:
One of the most interesting things about the show is that it's a show about a
bunch of gay characters, but there are no coming out stories. They're men in
their 30s and 40s who are comfortable with their sexuality. The problems that
they deal with have to do with their relationships, their work, and their
friendships. That’s not only a reflection of where we are at now in the
world, but it also makes the show even more relatable to the audience.
Actually, the friends that I've shown the show to have been surprised that
there's sex in it. There are moments where you see characters being intimate
with each other and it's not done in a salacious way, which what Andrew Haigh
captured in Weekend. He deals with sexuality in a very authentic and frank
way. Sometimes sexual intimacy is very beautiful, very connected, and very
emotional, and other times it's comedic. They're not just people ripping each
others' clothes off.

Andrew Haigh:
The title was a nightmare to come up with. We tried to find one that felt
inclusive, and that wasn’t some cheap sexual innuendo. Ultimately, it's just
about what these guys were looking for, what they needed, and the struggle
that they face every day.
