    書蟲女孩從荷蘭回台灣之後，腦中最常出現的想法就是：好熱啊～～～不得不說荷蘭
的氣溫相較之下真的舒服很多，但這次的旅行也讓我體會到台灣是一個對旅客們非常友善
的國家，能在台灣成長也是一件很幸運的事情，關於更多旅行的心得之後也都會更新在部
落格，大家敬請期待！另外，颱風來襲，大家務必小心安全，下班之後趕快回家看個影集
也是一種生活的享受！

Modern Family season 1 episode 16–Fears

    本集一開始用紀錄片的方式一一詢問角色們最害怕的是什麼？每個人的回答都很有趣
，也再次強化各個角色的人格特質。這集中幾乎每一個人都克服了他們害怕的事情。Phil
和 Luke 因為有線電工人隨口的一句話，決定到房子下面尋寶，最後只找到前一個屋主留
下來的萬聖節骷顱頭裝飾；Haley 和 Alex 也各自有不同的恐懼要解決，Haley 第三次考
駕照，還遇到跟之前同樣一位嚴肅的監考官，Alex 因為擔心舞會找不到舞伴所以不想去參
加； Mitch 和 Cam 邀請 Lily 的小兒科醫師來家中吃早午餐，過程中 Lily 第一次說話
，而且還對醫生喊了一聲 Mommy，Mitch 和 Cam 因此崩潰；Gloria 決定帶 Manny 去玩
雲霄飛車克服他對雲霄飛車的恐懼，孰不知其實 Jay 也害怕坐雲霄飛車。

shifty (adj.) 不可信的
informal looking dishonest.
Jay: I don’t like pigeons. They’re shifty.

pediatrician (n.) 小兒科醫師
a doctor who deals with children and their illnesses .
Cam: We got off to an awkward start with our pediatrician, a very nice Asian
lady.

rattle (v.) 使人害怕
informal to make someone lose confidence or become nervous.
Phil: Gonna take a little more than trapping in a small, dark space with a
wild animal to rattle your old man.

recon=reconnaissance (n.) 偵查
the military activity of sending soldiers and aircraft to find out about the
enemy’s forces.
Phil: Okay! Good recon.

fidgety (adj.) 扭來扭去、不安分的
informal unable to stay still, especially because you are bored or nervous.
Mitch: She’s usually very fidgety around new people.

steer (v.) 操控方向
to control the direction a vehicle is going, for example by turning a wheel.
Luke: How are you supposed to steer if you don’t know where you’re going?

halibut (n.) 比目魚
a large flat sea fish used as food.
Manny: Today feels like a good day for halibut.

bait (n.) 餌
food used to attract fish, animals ,or birds so that you can catch them.
Manny: Did I ever tell you about the time I used peanut butter and jelly for
bait and I caught a thresher shark?

geyser (n.) 噴泉
a natural spring that sends hot water and steam suddenly into the air from
the hole in the ground.
Claire: The only reason I’m not panicking is I haven’t seen a giant geyser.

intrepid (adj.) 勇猛大膽的
willing to do dangerous things or go to dangerous places-often used humorously.
Phil: Two intrepid explorers make their way on a journey.

attic (n.) 閣樓
a space or room just below the roof of a house, often used for storing things.

compartment (n.) 隔間
1. one of the separate areas into which a plane,ship ,or train is divided: a
first-class compartment.
2. a smaller enclosed space inside something larger. The bag is divided into
separate compartments.
Luke: Mom says there’s an old trunk in the attic. There’s a secret
compartment.

§摩登家庭小趣聞：
書蟲女孩之前在看艾美獎頒獎典禮入圍名單的時候就發現一件很有趣的事，所有角色報名
的獎項都是以配角 (Supporting actor/actress) 的身份報名，原來劇組的大家從第一季
開始就達成共識，大家都願意以配角的身份報名獎項，象徵劇中的每一個角色都一樣重要
，這在電視劇中真的非常少見呢！
