BUCHAREST, Aug 2 (Reuters)
Rapid Bucharest won the Romanian Super Cup on Saturday when an
extra-time goal by substitute striker Robert Nita gave them a
1-0 win over city rivals Dinamo Bucharest.
Nita, a 75th-minute substitute, scored with a long-range effort
to beat Dinamo's outstanding Belgian keeper Robert Delwarte after
a quick counter-attack.
In the second half both teams missed chances and Dinamo midfielder
Zoltan Perenyi hit the crossbar in the 76th minute.
'The win has boosted my team's hopes for next week's match against
Anderlecht,' Rapid Bucharest coach Mircea Rednic said.
Rapid travel to Belgium to face Anderlecht in a Champions League
second qualifying round, second leg match on Wednesday. The two
teams played out a goalless draw in the first leg in Bucharest.
