※ 引述《PeerGynt (皮爾金特)》之銘言: : From the information revealed, we could say the judges' : judgement of the FIFA world cup is not reasonable enough. : Maybe it is analogous to this issue of social effect of : the lottery. Is it a good idea to judge only depending on the information revealed? I think the meaning of "inforamtion" you used in the context is "motive" rather than "information", or it's the inforamtion about motives. The subject meaning (of the motive) of a social action is not equal to the outcome of a social action, is it? Especailly in economics, we often emphasize an action from a good motive might cause an unpredictable inverse/ bad outcome, while some motive which seems not so noble (eg. self-interested) might lead to a good social outcome (eg. efficiency). In this sense, I think only having information about motives of social actions is not enough (more exactly, not proper) in analysis of social actions. : By the way, I agree with you about the topic of "details". : Surely sound examinations bring us sound knowledge. : And I think whether we discuss such issue with such details : depends on our attitude of whether we take such discussion : as that in which such details are needed. I think why more details are needed is only to modify the assumptions or just to reject the need to modify the assumptions, not to examine the theory. Sound examinations for testing theories need well-designed research scheme and it's not possible to do on BBS. -- 我面對著鏡子 說中國話 北島‧鄉音 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: 143.167.137.220
