群眾暴動、鬥毆、賭博—台灣的棒球熱重新回到了最高點。而助長這股風潮的
的是長期皆為最受歡迎球隊的兄弟象隊，他們以四比二打敗了興農牛隊贏得了
台灣大賽。
這是兄弟隊連續第三次的奪冠，但卻是 CPBL 從已經解散的 TML吸收兩支球隊
後，重新命名冠軍賽為〝台灣大賽〞後的第一次。
兄弟隊，他們贏得了下半球季的冠軍，面對到了奪得上半球季冠軍的牛隊。這
是興農第三次在總冠軍賽失利。
兄弟隊的中外野手陳致遠以 .410 的打擊率以及 7分打點的表現，成為了這個
系列賽的最有價值球員。他和右外野手彭政閔是兄弟隊中唯二進入本次亞錦賽
台灣代表隊的球員。
對於台灣大賽的關注使得平均觀眾提升到了新紀錄的每場 14,500 人。無法買
到在台北舉行的第六場比賽球票的球迷，將他們的怒氣發洩在那些獲得球票的
黃牛以及政治人物上。相當多露宿了整夜以獲得球票卻徒勞無功的球迷丟擲雞
蛋並攻擊黃牛，鎮暴警察因此出動停止鬥毆。
球場上的情緒一樣極度的高漲。在系列賽的第五場，由於一個一壘方面的爭議
性判決，興農的教練陳威成用拳頭揮擊一名裁判。聯盟在不久後對陳做了禁賽
五場以及罰款 $3,000 的處分。
諷刺的，對於〝戰鬥〞有著最佳準備的球員卻不在先發打線中，興農的外野手
曾華偉在系列賽的第三、四場之間的停賽日必須要去參加軍事服務，他無法從
在系列賽第四場前及時從軍營趕回。

Brother Wins Wild Taiwan Series
Rioting, punching, gambling--the excitement of Taiwanese baseball is
back in full swing. And helping to raise interest to a fever pitch
were the perennially favored Brother Elephants, who defeated the
Sinon Bulls four games to two to claim the Taiwan Series.
The title was Brother's third straight, but the first since the
championship series of the Chinese Professional Baseball League was
renamed the Taiwan Series following the CPBL's absorption of two team
from the rival, and now defunt, Taiwan Major League.
Brother, which had won the second-half season, was pitted against the
first-half champion Bulls. It was Sinon's third loss in the champion-
ship series.
Brother center fielder Chen Chih-yuan earned series MVP honors as he
hit .410 with seven RBIs. He and right fielder Peng Cheng-min were
the only two Brother players named to the Taiwan Team for the Asian
Games.
The interest in the Taiwan Series pushed average attendance up to a
record 14,500 per games. Fans left without tickets to the sold-out
Game six in Taipei vented their anger that scalpers and politicians
were able to cbtain tickets. Many of the fans who had camped out ove-
rnight in a futile effort to get tickets threw eggs and attacked sca-
lpers in a pitched battle. Riot police were called in to stop the
fighting.
Tempers were hot on the field, as well. In Game Five, Sinon manager
Chen Wei-cheng reacted to a controversial call at first base by thro-
wing a punch at one of the umpires. The league then socked Chen with
a $3,000 fine and am immediate five-game suspension.
Ironically, the one player most prepare to fight was kept out of the
lineup. Sinon outfielder Tseng Hua-wei was forced to spend the off
day between Game Three and Game Four on military service. He did not
get back in time for the start of Game Four.
