上週六的晚上, 曹錦輝在八局上來接替Brett Tomko投球, 當時有兩位教士分別在
一壘壘包和三壘壘包上傳教, 曹錦輝對著Rob Bowen投出第一球, 球滾到投手丘附近,
那兩個傳教士自此掰掰, 九局上來後再演出兩個一球死以及一個三振,小曹總共只用了
六個球就解決四位教士, 取得五個出局數, 而在週日的17局落落長比賽中, 小曹完成
第10以及第11局, 在容不下任何錯誤和閃失的過程中, 他也不過用了15個球就讓教士
打者六上六下, 當時只要一有疏忽, 比賽立刻會災難性地結束

: : making sure he was healthy. We didn't get a ton of chances to work him

春訓的關注焦點在於確定他是否健康有凍頭, 我們並無太多讓他連兩場出賽來觀察
他的機會,但是他的表現我們看在眼裡爽在心裡, 他在春訓時比較會想和第一位打者
磨來磨去,但我想他應該是在測試他滑球的球感, 他知道滑球是他的關鍵球, 也了解將
來他必須丟很多滑球, 只要他找回感覺, 他的控球可以說非常精準.

當落磯在2003年首度將小曹升上大聯盟時, 他是第一位登上這個舞台的台灣投手, 因此,
他在家鄉紅極一時, 就像搖滾巨星那麼嗆紅, 但是他的臂膀問題也在隔年球季沒過多久
就浮現出來, 雖然他還是安然度過2004年並且在隔年取得落磯終結者位置, 但終究在
2005年5月25日躺上手術台接受肩膀關節鏡手術.

曹錦輝的復健過程之漫長出乎許多意料之外, 落磯內部甚至傳出說他的復健遠遠超過
預期的風聲, 不論如何, 落磯最後選擇不再和小曹繼續這段賓主之誼. 被釋出後取得
自由球員資格小曹, 面對著未知的未來,不安充滿了他的冬季大半日子, 僅僅只有Kansas
City提出一紙小聯盟約給他, 當他已經接近完成簽約的時候, 道奇突然間見縫插針,
給予小曹40人名單的承諾.

4月18日, 在短短三個月的時間不到, 小曹重新回到大聯盟, 恰如其分地, 他面對到了
他的老東家落磯隊, 在一又三分之一局中沒掉分也沒被揮出安打, 向著放棄他的落磯
隊,冒險簽下他的道奇,以及台灣家鄉的鄉民們宣示: 曹錦輝還是一塊大聯盟的料.
