轉自官網 TUCSON, Ariz. -- Still wearing his Colorado Rockies-issued gear, newly appointed closer Chin-hui Tsao skipped through the Hi Corbett Field parking lot, fired up his car and went out in search for answers regarding his tricky right shoulder. But answers never seem to come quickly or easily with Tsao, who hasn't pitched since Wednesday. The Rockies were hoping Tsao would have an MRI and the results could be read by the end of the day on Monday. However, manager Clint Hurdle said the MRI machine broke down while getting a reading on Tsao's shoulder. Tsao was hoping the machine would be fixed in time for him to have the procedure at some point on Monday. But everyone wants to know if Tsao is OK in the immediate sense, and if he'll be ready for the April 4 opener at Coors Field against San Diego. In a sense, Tsao is racing against time. If he doesn't pitch in a game before the season begins -- and considering he has to build up to it, the earliest it can happen is Thursday -- he'll start 2005 on the disabled list. The good news is Tsao reports feeling better, and that the soreness isn't related to the problems that delayed the start of his 2004 season at Triple-A Colorado Springs last year. Nagging shoulder problems are no fun for any pitcher. But before leaving the park, Tsao said he wasn't worried about what the MRI would say. "I'm not worried about that because I feel OK," Tsao said. "I don't think it'll be bad." Tsao had difficulty getting loose before giving up a two-run lead against San Francisco at Scottsdale, Ariz., on Wednesday, and said he had difficulty moving it the next morning. Tsao said his shoulder is getting better each day. However, on Sunday, he was playing long toss at 110 feet when he became sore, so the activity was ended. The goal was to at least get him to the slope of the mound and possibly even throw a few pitches. Rockies trainer Keith Dugger said when the MRI is taken, it will be compared to one taken last year to determine if there are any changes. San Francisco specialist Charlie Ho, who evaluates MRIs for the Rockies and several other pro teams, will analyze Tsao's readings. Tsao's status is part of the reason the Rockies are making phone calls on the availability of relief help. As it stands, there are four pitchers -- lefty Darren Oliver and righties David Cortes, Allan Simpson and Ryan Speier -- battling for two spots. Oliver is being tested in the bullpen, since he's a starter by trade. Speier has had the best overall spring of the competitors, but Simpson has pitched well recently and Cortes won't go away. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 211.75.71.127
