Rockies right-hander Chin-hui Tsao's comeback from shoulder surgery last year
has gone so poorly that the Rockies have shut him down briefly.

Tsao, the club's closer before the injury hit last May, seemed to be making
progress while working out at the club's training complex in Tucson, Ariz.,
but since joining the team in Denver he has not been able to bounce back from
throwing sessions.

"Chin-hui is shut down until we get back to Denver," Rockies head trainer
Keith Dugger said. "He's not recovering as fast as we would like. After he'd
throw one bullpen he'd need for our five days, where tyically we'd only give
him two days."

In happier injury news for the Rockies, Dugger said that infielder Kaz Matsui,
who's undergoing a refresher course at Triple-A Colorado Springs,
has responded well to back stabilization exercises.
