※ 引述《finavir (楚葛)》之銘言: : ※ 引述《djnospam (DJ)》之銘言: : : Ah, that explains. For all I know, flyinfall is doing his job : : because he is a 美語老師. : You took this section of my reply OUT OF CONTEXT and you got : your I.R. wrong. : I hate to say this, but the U.K. is NOT the only country whose : head of state is Queen Elizabeth II. ;p : Besides, I cross-referenced both British and American dictionaries, : the ones that pronounce. It just doesn't sound like what flyinball : described. Regarding "fun", the difference between the standard : British pronounciation and the standard American pronounciation : seems to be that the British sounds more nasal and muscular. : Even on American TV programs, the pronounciation of "fun" : sounds far from what flyinball described (ok, fine, perhaps : not THAT far, but not as close to ㄈㄤˋ) : : flyinfall said in his post: : : ) : : Now, it would be really weird if they do say "飯,四聲飯",but : : ㄈㄢˋreally isnt't that far from the way people pronounce it here : : in the US, regional or not. : Thanks for the reiteration, : but I did not misunderstand what flyinball said in his post. Apparently we are talking about two different leagues. As Flyinball has identified him as a tutor at an bu-shi-ban, my suggestion that going after the slight differences (of course the one between "fun" and "fan" falls out of the criterion) in pronunciation is fruitless is for beginners. For native speakers, such kind of subject can spark a lengthy discussion. But for most of those learners at bu-shi-ban's, who can not even handle basic conversations, there are a helluva things more fundamental they should focus on. Learn to walk before you (I mean "they") run. Djnospam is right by saying Flyinball is a 美語老師 because all the bu-shi-ban's in Taiwan teach American English; do not question why, the parents request it. Now, I marvel at your English, would you mind disclosing where you are from? -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 210.243.82.60
