[問題] 關於發音語音學的問題~

請問板上有英文強者嗎??
可否麻煩幫我解一道題目
我實在不太懂老師要我們寫出什麼東西..orz
這是發音語音學的東西
題目是

English vowels can be pronounced longer or shorter
according to different situations. Provide two
examples to illustrate that "other things are equal,
the vowel is longer in such situation."

我實在不太懂...~__~

可以請會的人告訴我該怎麼寫嗎???

I guess that your teacher wanted you to give him/her minimal pairs
with only one phoneme different. Like back /bak/ & bag /bag/, they are minimal
pairs the change of the last consonant different in voiceness.
As you can see, the former one /k/ is voiceless consonant and the latter /g/
is, on the contrary, voiceless. However, despite the differences of the
meanings between /bag/ and /bak/, the vowels sould different in vowel length.
In short, according to the pronunciation of these two words, we find that ..
vowel soulds longer before voiceless consonant, and shorter before voiced C.

美中不足的是 答案根本就是錯誤的

母音在有聲子音前的長度 > 母音在無聲子音前的長度
任何一本提及語音學的書都沒有第二個答案
