[字辨] trample vs. trample on

如題


1. He was trampled to death by an elephant .   他被一隻大象踩死。[奇摩字典]

   = An elephant trampled him to death.  一隻大象把他踩死。

2. He apologized for trampling on her toes . 他因踩了她一腳向她道歉。[奇摩字典]


上面兩句，

1是Vt的用法，可否換成Vi(trample on + O.)?
2是Vi的用法，可否還成Vt(trample + O.)?
