非常抱歉我沒有說清楚是在哪看到的，對於您這麼認真的回答令我感到很羞愧.. m(_ _)m
這兩句話都是從國中的測驗本裡看到的（康軒版試題篇)，
看了您的文章之後我查了家裡的字典，
在 late 為形容詞的用法下果然沒有 be late to 的用法，只看到 be late for....
eg. He was ten minutes late for school. (from Macmillan English dictionary)
另一本 Collins English Usage 也有提到 be late for 的用法，沒有 be late to......
If you are late for something, you arrive after the time that was arranged.
eg. I was ten minutes late for my appointment.
另外在搭配大辭典（中央）裡有更多用法：
上學遲到可以用 be late at school....
another example: She is never late for school.....
都沒有看到 be late to 的用法..........
雖然字典上沒有 be late to....，但是網路上有很多這個用法耶！
on google:
約有172,000項符合"be late to"的查詢結果 (竟出現在某轉學考試題上!)
約有285,000項符合"be late for"的查詢結果
所以又有點搞不清楚了..... @@"
