[文法] 在這裡, 動詞怎麼相連了呢?

一道題目:
A good exercise helps teach people to avoid habits that might shorten
 the lives.
改錯
答案是the lives換成their lives
這個我可以理解
但是helps 和teach兩個都是名詞
為什麼不需要改為helps teaching呢
