[文法] 請問比喻問題~

 "students learned as much as they could just like a sponge absorbs water."

比喻學生們學習就像海綿吸水一樣，

students是複數，後面比喻的sponge應該用單數 a sponge 還是用sponges，

or both of them are correct?
