[文法] 請問是 Two pounds is enough. 還是Two pounds are enough.

[region (原來我把一切都搞砸了)]

   請問 是 Two pounds is enough.
   還是Two pounds are enough.呢?

   另外 是 Two pounds of pork are NT$100. 還是 is?
                              ~~~
           Two cans of juice are NT$50. 還是 is?
                             ~~~

上面的第一句的情況 屬於英文裡面Subject-Verb Agreement的例外情況之一
當一個句子的Subject為MEASUREMENTS的時候 Verb一律要用單數
例如:
(a) Eight hours of sleep is enough.
(b) Five dollars is the price.
(c) Nine thousand miles is too far to travel by car.
所以 第一句 應該用is

至於第二句的cans僅指裝果汁的容器 是具體的物品 與上述情況不同
所以根據Subject-Verb Agreement的原則 複數的cans 當然要配合用are囉!
