Scratch is a term used in hacker jargon.
Scratch最常見的意思是"抓"，在電腦術語中也常見此語出現。

scratchpad為便條紙，草稿之意，在電腦中表示那種用作測試或是暫時放置檔案的
一個地方，在unix like的作業系統中，常有tmp這個目錄，tmp為temporary之意，
此目錄也可稱為scracth directory,
安裝軟體時，若此原始碼開始編譯，也會在編譯過程產生一大堆無用的檔案，
這些檔案需要一個地方來放置，放置的地方也叫作scratch.
