p.s. 以上是來源不同的字由於讀音相近而逐漸成為拼法相同的字彙(manifest的
名詞有「貨物或乘客清單」的意思，不曉得是不是屬於此類；否則從字原"hand-
struck"實在難以聯想)；算是將單字的拼字型態簡化了。而另外一種(同一個字有
不同拼法，趨向複雜)例如bologna，義大利人讀音應該類似"balonia"，但是英文
借來使用時沒有改變拼法，除非在衍生義上才會成為“baloney”；又或是tortil
la與quesadilla(都是吃的)從西班牙文來，雖然字裡有"l"卻是不發音。
