If anyone wants a perfect anthology of medieval narrative types,
如果任何人想要讀一部中世紀敘事體的文選

here it is: there are the fabliau, the metrical romance,

  And Chaucer himself is tonic. Here is a man with a broad sympathy

for life high and low, a man whose understanding of daily affairs

is penetrating and subtle, who can be appropriately humorous,

ironic, or satric, but who is unfailingly kind and calm.
反諷、諷刺，但他可以經久不衰地親切及平靜

This last major medieval poet is that rare person-the perceptive
這位最後一任主要的中世紀罕見詩人

realist who enjoys life.
