Richard Cory是大家羨慕的對象
穿著體面，受過良好教育，一舉一動都散發著紳士的氣息
曾經，大家以為那就是一切了，幻想著有一天也可以成為Richard Cory
然而當大家咒詛著難以下嚥的粗茶淡飯時
Richard Cory在一個安靜的夜晚悄悄的結束了了自己的生命
我覺得呢，這首詩用了兩個層面的對比
第一個是物質生活上的對比
Richard Cory光鮮的外表是大家羨慕的對象，追求的目標
這跟他們粗茶淡飯的生活形成了對比
第二個則是心情上的對比
過怕了窮苦生活的人們一心想要追求向Richard一般的富足生活
縱使他們已經厭惡於貧困的生活，但正因為這樣的不滿意，他們心中仍然有所希冀，
他們還是企求在他們的生命中可以再多一些東西的
而且，當他們看到Richard時，他們彷彿看到心中的願景，多少也為之欣喜
反觀Richard Cory
在大家的眼中，他似乎已經擁有一切。但是大家看不到他的內心，
不知道他在這樣優渥的物質環境下，心理卻是絕望的。
其實說到這裡，物質跟心靈本身也是一個對比
再次點出了古老的話題：物質的滿足不等於心靈的富足
然而，眾人多少是盲目的，只看得見金玉其外，不見敗絮其中
我想，這應該是這一首詩想要表達的意思吧
