There is nothing wrong for people to write informally. However, if you want
to learn English by email, it will cause some concerns. Generally speaking,
if English is your first langauge, and you are talking to your friends,
you will not pay a lot of attention to your langauge. I won't say it is bad
English because it can be more interesting and more relaxing, but as for
English learners, it is a bit hard to keep up with.
When living overseas, I often found daily conversation was not a piece of
cake. Now I know people better and can expect what they will say so informal
English is not as irritating as before. To be able to use English informally
is a great achievement but it is unwise to learn so in Taiwan. Informal
things come fast and go fast so don't learn it until you need to.
