Regarding how to improve one's English competence, I wonder which strategies or methods you guys use to make it. Do you often monitor your own performance while chatting with friends in English or writing, grammar in particular? This is one thing I usually struggle with: whether to be held back by grammar structure or to brave it and write whatever comes to your mind. Perhaps, just as one of friends' saying "You can't make progress in English learning unless you conquer your fear of making mistakes and are willing to take risks." However, not until I bring this approach into practice will I know if she's correct. Though having learnt a lot of theories from my SLA course, I still am not able to get any further, above all, on writing and listening and speaking, etc. It's a panic, an obsession that has been occupying my mind all day long. Just as somebody may claim that they suffer from "imformation panic", I think I have an "English has been not improving for a long time" panic. Just as what my teacher said that you can't expect that your English can advance all of a sudden, I understand but still can't rid myself of anxiety about not having made a remarkable progress. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.228.32.79
