Really never thought of what does English mean to me, English became an essential communication skill from when I was studying and now for work purpose, things would not work now if I don't speak English.
I think the only way to pick up a language is to practise, read/listen/write/speak. Cannot get away from the hard work :p
This is the third month since I was relocated to Taipei and I have never lived in Taiwan before that except visiting for holiday. Would gladly exchange contact info (LINE is popular?) and provide help learning English.
