I realized that I haven't put up my self introduction, so here it is. Name: Tony Nickname: Tony Birthday: November 14th Hobbies: Badminton, Environmental Issues, Philosophy, Science and Technology Occupation: (if you are a student, where/what you are studying) Physics at NTHU How long have you been learning English? 16 Years What does English mean to you? What do you like about it? English is a very useful too for me to read English books in its original language. Translations, although some are done very well, they almost always loose that special feeling that makes it that much inferior than their original self. Although I love Chinese for its immense cultural history and complexity, I still prefer English for communication. English is just a lot more user friendly in comparison. Any tips about learning English? I think all languages cannot be learned by memorizing vocabulary and grammar like the way Taiwanese schools are teaching it. There are just too many exceptions to the rules of the language that learning English with the old method will force the student to loose focus. Learning from others by reading, listening, and speaking is much more effective and efficient than using just a dictionary and a grammar textbook. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.114.217.114
