James Lomas, George Maguire, both 15, and Liam Mower, 13, became the youngest winners in 30 years of the awards. The trio — plucked from 3,000 hopefuls for the West End show — were jointly named Best Actor in a Musical. Liam, from Hull, said: “I didn’t expect it but as soon as I heard them call out James’s name I thought I can’t believe it. It’s amazing. We won. “It was a surprise.” And he joked: “Ewan should be grateful to be nominated, I know he’s a big Hollywood star and I didn’t expect to beat him. It’s outstanding.” George and James have already dropped out of the show at the Victoria Palace theatre after their voices broke. Collected his gong,George, from Stanford-le-Hope, Essex, said: “I can’t believe it, I’m gobsmacked. It’s amazing.” James, from Sheffied, added: “I’d like to thank all the families for the support they gave us.” The £5 million musical was also named Best New Musical category and won awards for Best Theatre Choreographer and Best Sound Design. McGregor’s Guys and Dolls co-star Jane Krakowski, won Best Actress in a Musical at the bash at the London Hilton. The star said he was “delighted” for the Billy Elliot lads.
