She's the latest in a long line of A-list actresses to sing the handsome
Mr McGregor's praises after working with him - it's a familiar story
HOLLYWOOD'S hottest young actress Scarlett Johansson is the latest leading
lady to fall under the spell of Scots actor Ewan Mc GregorThe 34-year-old
from Crieff has already charmed every A-list actress from Nicole Kidman
to Catherine Zeta-Jones, Gwyneth Paltrow and Renze Zellweger.
Now it's Scarlett's turn. The 20-year-old was obviously smitten while they
filmed action movie The Island, which is out in August. And director Michael
Bay stokes the fire by joking that he made them kiss before he cast them to
make sure they had the chemistry he was after.
He said: 'They did make out though, he's married. I saw them make out and I
yelled 'Cut, cut, cut.' No, honestly, you pick pictures and you say, 'They
look cute together.' 'You have no idea what the chemistry is going to be
like. With a love story, I try to get the actors to hang out as much as
possible.'
In America promoting the film, Scarlett is clearly horrified at where Bay
is taking this line of questioning and she laughs: 'Enough, Michael.'
But she admits she and Ewan, married to French wife Eve and the father of
two daughters, got on well.
Scarlett, who has been linked with Jared Leto and Benicio Del Toro, added:
'We felt the chemistry right away. No, I'm just kidding.
'We totally got along. I mean I met Ewan and I thought this is going to
be great. It's the same as when you meet people. I know pretty much
instantaneously whether I am going to want to spend a lot of time with
Ewan or not. When I met him I knew it was going to be a blast. And it was.
'He is just a wonderful guy. He was so much fun to work with. He is such
a movie star in every wonderful sense of that word.
'He is an incredible actor and a great dad, husband. He has a wonderful
family and is humble and funny and charming and thoughtful and all those
things. I felt really lucky because I got to spend five months with him.'

Two weeks before the start of filming at the end of last year she started
playing catch-up, especially as she and Ewan have to wear revealing white
suits in the movie.
She added: 'Ewan came totally prepared. He looked fantastic. He was puffing
up for his white suit.'

In an average day she would run half a mile in six different shots, 30
times in a row, with debris thrown at her.
She laughed: 'It doesn't seem that glamorous any more. Of course if you
have Ewan McGregor sitting next to you it seems particularly glamorous,
but still.'

nice to work with him three times now, it makes going back more fun because
it's like a reunion. I appreciate Ewan even more because I love his wife,

about Ewan that he could find such an incredible woman to marry.'
Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge!) 'It was great to work with him. Straight away
we had a tacit agreement that we'd support each other throughout, taking
risks, and be willing to make complete fools of ourselves.'
Renee Zellweger (Down With Love) On kissing him... 'Not a bad day at the
office. I like Ewan. 'We've been friends for a long time, and I've been
his fan for even longer. We were like dumb little kids clapping our hands
every day. It was ridiculous. We laughed so much'
Cameron Diaz (A Life Less Ordinary) 'Immediately Ewan and I just fit. We
went straight to dance rehearsal for four days. So we got very close, very
fast'
