Wolves have reluctantly made Christophe Berra available for transfer after
the Scottish defender expressed the desire for a fresh challenge.
Berra’s availability is to be circulated to other clubs after discussions
with boss Ståle Solbakken, with Wolves ready to listen to offers for the
27-year-old Scottish international.
“Christophe has one year of his contract remaining and, after talks, has
decided that he wishes to seek a fresh challenge elsewhere,” said Solbakken.
“As a result of that, and given his contract situation with only 12 months
remaining, the Club has reluctantly agreed to make him available for transfer.
“We currently have good competition for places in his position, and I have
already said I would like to bring in another central defender if possible.
“Christophe will continue to work with the first team squad and be available
for selection while the Club await an offer which they believe to be
acceptable for consideration.”
Berra, who has 20 full international caps, has been at Wolves for
three-and-a-half years having arrived midway through the Championship-winning
2008/09 season, making 122 appearances in all competitions.
