Márquez and Ronaldinho are in the Cup contention

Ronaldinho and Márquez are both back in the squad for the Cup game against
Villareal after recovering from injury.
The return of Ronaldinho and Márquez is the main talking point of the squad
list of 16 names announced by Frank Rijkaard ahead of Thursday's Cup
quarterfinal decider against Villareal.
Sylvinho, Edmilson, Gudjohnsen and Oleguer have not made it onto the list.
Medical green light for Márquez
Club Doctors cleared Rafa Márquez for action on Wednesday. The Maxican picked
up a left leg injury in the first leg of the Cup tie last week and was forced
to miss the league game against Bilbao at the weekend.
Ronaldinho returns
Meanwhile, Ronaldinho was passed fit on Monday after missing most of the last
four weeks with a left knee injury. After an intensive individual recovery
programme, he rejoined the squad on Tuesday.

Camp Nou the key to semis

Barça take on Villareal tonight in the Camp Nou for the prize of a place in the
semi-finals of the Cup (10 pm, Barça TV, PPV and Radio Barca). Ronaldinho and
Márquez both return to the squad.
Barça can take another step closer to their 25th Cup tonight. The Camp Nou was
a dicisive factor in eliminating current holders Sevilla but tonight's visitors
Villareal, who together with Barça have played some of the most attractive
football of the last few seasions, willbe no easy nut to crack. The goalless
draw from the first leg leaves Barça in a great positiom to remain the only
team in the Spanish league to have options in the Champions Leagues, the Cup
and the league. However, they need to win or at least hold on another 0-0
result as a score draw would qualify Villareal.
Taking their chances
The last two away draws have left mixed feelings. The goalless draw in the first
leg of the Cup tie a week ago saw a good performance from the Barça players
spoilt by a failure to take their chances in the final metres while the draw at
the weekend in Bilbao has left them nine points adrift of the top spot in the
league. Once again they had their chances to win the match but failed to take
them. Manager Frank Rijkaard has made it clear in his last two press
conferences that his players have to reprove on their goal scoring
effectiveness.
Ronaldinho back
Barça's attacking options have been boosted by the return of Ronaldinho to the
squad after being sidelined by a knee injury for almost a month. Márquez, who
missed the match against Bilbao, also returns. Eto'o and Touré Yaya are still
away at the African Cup of Nations while Ezquerro and Jorquera are out injured.
Gudjohnsen, Sylvinho, Edmilson and Oleguer have not been selected.
Villareal looking for Cup first
Villareal manager Manuel Pellegrini had brought a squad of 17 players to
Barcelona. Matías Fernández is unavailable through injury while Angel and
Gonzalo have been dropped. The "Yellow Submarine" fallowed their goalless draw
against Barça with a 3-2 defeat in the Bernabéu against Real Madrid but now
they have the incentive of qualifying for the semi-finals of the Cup for the
first time in the club's histroy.

Deco is the first to be named

Deco has been the first FC Barcelona to be officially called up by his country
for the round of international matches to be played naxt week.
The Brazilian-born midfielder has been named in the Portugal squad to face
Italy next Wednesday in the high profile encounter will, unusually, be played
in the Swiss city of Zurich.
Gianluca Zambrotta is also likely to play in the match, although the Azzurri
squad will not be named untill next Sunday, as many more Blaugrana stars are
expected to head off to play for their national side.
Spain and France
The game with the greatest number of Barça players will surely be played in
Malaga where Spain are due to take on France in a friendly that will see both
teams have several Camp Nou teammates facing each either. Franch coach Raymond
Domenech will name his squad on Thursday and Luis Aragonés will follow suit a
day later.
Gudjohnsen, Márquez and Giovani
Eidur Gudjohnsen, Rafa Márquez and Giovani Dos Santos are all also in line to
be named by their countries to played next week. Iceland take on Almernia in a
friendly, while in Houston, Mexico will play the United States. None of the
players have yet been confirmed though as it is still too early for coach's to
name their squads.
Brazil and Argentina
Frank Rijkaard will be able to count on the Brazilian and Argentinian members
of his squad though. Dunga is set to name a team of youngsters and untried
players for the friendly against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin, while
Lionel Messi nor Gaby Milito will be called up for Albiceleste's game against
Guatemala.
